Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from – Seth Godin
I came across this quote by Seth Godin. It resonated a lot to what Timothy Ferriss said in his bestseller book the 4 hour work week.
Funnily the site displaying this quote understood it differently, they wanted to show that they actually love what they do.
Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from. –Seth Godin
Essentially the first way to understand this statement, is that it encourages a perspective shift towards building a life that one doesn’t feel the need to escape from through vacations. Instead of constantly looking forward to the next getaway or break, the idea is to focus on creating a daily life that brings fulfilment, satisfaction, and happiness.
The other way, is the Tim Ferriss way, or creating a life full of travel and fun, all while having entrepreneurial endeavours fully outsourced.
I tend to believe that Seth meant the second meaning.
Life can be more enjoyable and meaningful when people actively work towards creating a positive and fulfilling environment for themselves, rather than relying solely on occasional breaks or vacations to find happiness. It suggests taking control of one’s circumstances and actively shaping a life that brings joy and contentment on a day-to-day basis. But, that is difficult to achieve as an employee, and much easier to achieve as an entrepreneur. Even the best employment remains an employment.
Don’t stalk the vacation calendar, create a life you don’t want to run away from! Who needs an escape plan when your daily routine feels like a beach holiday – minus the sunscreen?
