N.R. Narayana Murthy Wants Young Indians To Work Like Slaves!

N.R. Narayana Murthy,  whose wealth is estimated at over $4 billion by Forbes,  co-founder of the outsourcing and software giant Infosys, said India needs “highly determined, extremely disciplined and extremely hardworking” youngsters, who should put in 70 hours a week at work.

“You know, this is exactly what the Germans and Japanese did after the Second World War,” Murthy told Mohandas Pai, the former CFO of Infosys

In my opinion, Mr Murthy as an entrepreneur thinks that employees would be ready to put in long hours for someone else’s dreams. 10h per day is normal for entrepreneurs that are driven and motivated to build their business, but that’s not normal for employees.

If you add commuting and getting prepared, 10h/day would translate to around 11-12h/day, that’s a lot for an employee. They would return home tired, unable to have any social or love life. It would be reducing their life to slavery.

I personally put way more than 10h/day, but as i said, for entrepreneurs, that’s normal. I think helping young people to become entrepreneurs would be a much better objective.
