Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity – Seneca
The Roman philosopher Seneca, 2000+ years ago, said to the meaning that Luck is where preparation meets opportunity. Seneca has another interesting quote i wrote about. When a man does not know what harbor he is making for, no wind is the right wind.
Thus with no doubt the wisdom Seneca offers can be applied to business and success in general.
Luck have a role in success, however for those that are not lucky by nature, they can create their own luck.
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity
– Seneca
In life, we all find opportunities, some people maybe more than others. Opportunities knock on the door or most people, but only the prepared are able to seize them.
I am not radically declaring luck does not exist, that would be absurd. Some people are lucky, and no one can deny that. Some people are less lucky, but still can attribute their success to luck. And then, there’s the rest of us, the ones that hustle, and struggle. For this latter group, success can be created, by being prepared to seize it.
How ? Depends on the sector, but educating yourself, getting knowledge and experience, will have a big role in that.
Some would say i was lucky to have bought gold when it was cheap, whereas these people have researched the market and the price evolution and made a decision. Others would consider themselves lucky for investing in this or that company, but again they did the research. An entrepreneur seizing an opportunity that arized due to a pandemic, might consider himself lucky, but that does not cover his experience in sourcing production. A business owner launching a successful business in a location, also does not show the many steps needed before that could take place.
