The best thinking has been done in solitude. The worst has been done in turmoil -Thomas Edison

Another of Thomas Edison’s quote. A business genius and inventor, but also has a lot of wisdom to share. There is no doubt Edison did a lot of thinking. He was involved in many projects and led the development and many products, many of which did not work from the first time. For example, It is well known that Edison struggled to find the right filament to use in a light bulb.
I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work. – Thomas Edison

Let’s now ask ourselves, when do we get our best ideas, is it when we are dug in in a project? Or is it when we are relaxing / doing something else?
For me, and the majority of people, it is the latter. Inspiration, or great ideas come when you are not actively seeking them, when you are relaxing, meditating, or even in the shower or toilet!

The best thinking has been done in solitude: Meditation, being alone help crystallize ideas and notions, and as a result leads to epiphanies, to great ideas. Thus the best thinking is done in solitude.

The worst has been done in turmoil: There is no worst moment to get a ideas, than when you are actively seeking them under pressure. Sure with enough smart heads, you might find some solutions, but you would probably rush the thinking process, overlooking better ideas, or even missing some great ones.
Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. – Thomas Edison
