My opinion:

I do slightly disagree on the lack of focusing on numbers, but not entirely. Numbers, like unique visitors, clients, social reach, do have an important role in improving the business and the growth. It is very important to focus on what you do best, because the numbers can not really capture the customer satisfaction and loyalty. And the mistake many startups and internet businesses make is focusing on growth without taking in consideration the community, thus ending up losing a lot of business due to customer dissatisfaction.
